Its taken me a year or so, but I've finally got this site done and dusted...

Thanks to final year of university, I've had a grand total of about 4 days free in the last 8 months, and in that time I've been trying to put this site together bit by bit.

It was like some kind of designers block.

But its here now. So I thought I'd use this initial (but one!) entry to explain a bit more about the site beyond what's already mentioned in the other bits of the site.

I was first inspired to get my ass in gear and put this portfolio site and blog together when I realised I didn't have one and I was going to have to apply for jobs with nothing to show. Then I saw the fantastic work by the Big Noob guys and finally decided to do something about it. I had a look at the Symphony CMS they recommended and after a while, realised just how good it was for simple and lightweight sites.

Design wise, by biggest inspiration recently has been the excellent site by Tim Lahan and I think you can easily spot the influences and design cues I took from that - hopefully not too much, as I hope I put my own stamp on this site.

In the background of mine you will spot various photos of random scenes. They're all from my own Flickr collection served up with a nice little PHP image randomiser from Dan Benjamin at A List Apart.
