1st Bangor 3 - 3 Dromore

This game showed both sides of 1st Bangor - the good and the bad but after going 3-1 down it was evidence of how far the team have come that, despite coming back to make it 3-3, they were all bitterly disappointed with the result on the final whistle.

With fierce winds making conditions very difficult it was never going to be a game of pretty football.  That showed in the first half with Dromore making the most of the wind at their backs to play some effective long ball football.  They subsequently took the lead with exactly this, a long ball lifted over the top of Bangor's defence and their young quick striker latching onto it to fire home from the edge of the box.

Bangor though continued to play their football on the deck and this bore fruit when Matty Pollard fired across a great ball for Stephen McCormick to slot into the corner to make it 1-1.  However, with the 1st half whistle approaching some bad marking from a Dromore corner left their player unmarked to head Dromore into a half-time lead of 2-1.

In the second half, despite 1st Bangor starting to get into their stride, it was Dromore who struck first.  A simple long throw in caused mass confusion in the 1st Bangor defence with 2 players going for the same ball only for both to miss it and leave the Dromore player unmarked again to fire home.  However, despite the frustrating start to the half 1st Bangor began piling on the pressure and it was only a magnificient save from their keeper to deny Adam Welsh that kept it at 3-1.

It wasn't long however before Dromore's resistance broke, a fine flowing move by 1st Bangor ending with George Chelariu sending over the perfect cross for Stephen McCormick to grab his second of the match with a neat finish.  1st Bangor's equaliser then followed with Stephen McCormick firing in a free-kick which somehow squirmed its way under the keeper to give him his hat-trick.

In the dying moments it could have got even better for 1st Bangor with Tommy Eilliot swivveling perfectly in the box to fire in a fierce shot which was heading for the corner of the net only for the Dromore keeper to pull off yet another wonder save to give them their point.

A frustrating day overall for 1st Bangor but one that still brought out a lot of promise for the season ahead.
