Iveagh 1-1 1st Bangor

1st Bangor failed to replicate the same result as the previous week when these sides met despite dominating possession and chances in a well-contested match at Iveagh.

1st Bangor started brightly and couldn't have come closer to taking the lead after Michael Corkum's header rebounded off the bar to Adam Welsh who then repeated the feat by hammering his half-volley also off the bar.  Iveagh though responded well and dominated the next 20 minutes, taking a deserved lead through a well-taken header from their captain who rose above the 1st Bangor defence from a corner.

1st Bangor eventually got their act together with 10 minutes to go in the first half and started playing their usual style of free-flowing football.  This soon paid dividends with Ryan Oliver stealing in at the back post after a well worked move to fire home and level things up going into half-time.

After half-time 1st Bangor completely controlled the game with Chris Scott and Marty Robinson dominating the centre of midfield both aerially and on the deck.  At the back too, Corkum, Sproule, Gourley and Bryson were all extremely impressive with Carl O'Neill in the Bangor goal left with little to do in the second half.

With Welsh and McPhillips starting to cause the Iveagh defence more problems, the shots began raining down on the Iveagh keeper.  Caldwell and Oliver continued to out-trick the Iveagh full-backs who had no choice but to bring them down before they got into the box.  This twice led to free-kicks which Scott will be kicking himself (believe me he is!) he didn't finish after fine deliveries from Gourley and Robinson.

Graeme Best and Stephen McCormick entered the fray and the pressure continued with both players creating chances and going close to giving 1st Bangor what would have been a deserved win.  Credit though to Iveagh who defended well and battled hard to earn themselves a point.

1st Bangor:  C O'Neill, J Bryson, M Corkum, J Sproule, B Gourley, A Caldwell, C Scott, M Robinson, R Oliver, A Welsh, D McPhillips (S McCormick)
