1st Bangor eventually slipped into second gear to ease past a spirited Kilroot side on a wet and windy day up in Larne.
Despite controlling possession throughout the match 1st Bangor took a while to get their passing game going on Saturday as the wind and rain threatened to ruin any chance of free-flowing football. With first half chances at a premium, Oliver and Caldwell both went close before McCracken eventually cooly dinked home after finding himself in possession only a yard from goal.
If the first half was tense and tight the second half was anything but. McCormick on for the injured McPhillips joined McCracken up front and finished off a fine flowing move as Caldwell picked him out at the back post with a superb cross. 2-0.
The third came via McCracken who again found himself just yards out from goal with the ball at his feet enabling him to slam home and make it 3-0 1st Bangor.
Hill then sent an excellent ball through to McCormick who raced clear and managed to squeeze the ball past the Kilroot keeper who was unfortunate not to keep it out with a fine attempt at a save. 4-0.
Young Scott Stewart replaced Oliver on the wing and looked lively while Robinson and Beattie gave another dominating performance to control the game from midfield.
The pressure though continued as McCormick picked out Chris Scott, on for Robinson, who was scythed down in the box as he lined up to slot home from McCormick's square ball. McCracken showed then just was he's known as the Snowman - ice-coldly dinking home the penalty from the spot to round off the scoring and make it 5-0 to 1st Bangor.
Nicholl, Sproule, Hill, Gourley and McIlveen will also be delighted at an extremely confident performance at the back giving 1st Bangor another clean sheet.
Next up is Ballynahinch in the Cup.
